Rope of Love
The Rope of Love will be up and running from October 19th to November 16th.
The Rope of Love is an outreach program that provides warm, new coats to local children in need of a winter coat. We work through the social workers in the Portsmouth Public Schools to identify children who are in need of coats. The social workers give us the age and sex of the child and the size coat needed. We are not given any other identifying information on the children. The coats are collected here at the church and delivered to the schools in November. This program provides 35 to 75 local children with coats each winter. This would not be possible without all of you who give so generously each year.
If you are interested in providing a coat:
1. Take a tag from the display on the bulletin board outside the sanctuary beginning Oct 19th.
2. Sign your name and phone # on the sign-up sheet (by the number that coincides with your tag) The sheet will be on the board.
3. Purchase a NEW coat in the size/color indicated for the boy or girl on the tag.
4. Place the tag on the coat and return the coat to the Rope of Love on the staircase behind the sanctuary by Sunday Nov 16th.

Candy Cane Bazaar
Join us for a festive day of holiday cheer at the annual Candy Cane Bazaar, hosted by Calvary/Portsmouth United Methodist Church on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at 200 Turner Rd in Middletown, RI. This beloved community event features local artisans, a silent auction, book and fudge sales, a bake shoppe, a “re-gift” shop, the Calvary Café, and fun activities for children. Whether you're searching for unique holiday gifts, homemade treats, or a fun outing with family and friends, the Candy Cane Bazaar has something for everyone. Thanksgiving Dinner
Join us for a heartwarming Community Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, November 27, 2025, from 1 PM to 3 PM at 2732 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI. Sponsored by Portsmouth UMC and Calvary UMC, this event offers a full complimentary Thanksgiving meal to all who attend.
