Upcoming Events

• Clements Receipts – just a reminder that the church benefits financially when you turn in your Clements Receipts (all locations accepted). Please put them in the envelope outside the church office (NOT THE FELLOWSHIP HALL)

• Apple Sunday - we will celebrate Johnny Appleseed's birthday on Sunday October 4 during Coffee Hour. Please bring an apple dish to share.

• Annual Charge Conference - our annual Charge Conference will be Sunday October 3 at 2pm. This year's meeting will be held at Calvary UMC.

• Rope of Love - The Rope of Love is an outreach program that provides warm, new coats to local children in need of a winter coat. We work through the social workers in the Portsmouth Public Schools to identify children
who are in need of coats. The social workers give us the age and sex of the child and the size/
color coat needed. We are not given any other identifying information on the children. The coats are
collected here at the church and delivered to the schools in November. This is a much needed and
appreciated outreach program that provides local children with coats each winter. This would not be
possible without all of you who give so generously each year.
If you are interested in providing a coat:
  1. Take a tag from the display on the bulletin board outside the sanctuary beginning Oct 4th.
  2. Sign your name and phone # on the sign-up sheet (by the number that coincides with your tag)
The sheet will be on the board.
  3. Purchase a NEW coat in the size/color indicated for the boy or girl on the tag.
  4. Place the tag on the coat (tie to zipper) and return the coat to the Rope of Love on the staircase behind the sanctuary by Sunday Nov 8th.
If you would like to provide a coat but can not get out to shop for it please take a tag, sign your name by the number and call Elizabeth (864-1156) and she will shop for the coat for you. Please call Elizabeth Cochran at 864-1156 with any questions.

• Pumpkin Sunday - we will celebrate fall with our annual Pumpkin Sunday celebration. Please bring a pumpkin dish to share on Sunday October 25 during coffee hour

• Candy Cane Bazaar is scheduled for Saturday November 7th. PUMC will be working with Calvary again. Please mark your calendars. More information coming

• Thanksgiving Dinner - PUMC will host Thanksgiving Dinner again. We will serve a full Thanksgiving Dinner from 12-3 on Thanksgiving Day. Monetary donations, volunteers and pie bakers are needed.

• Directory Update - if you would like your information added to the directory or need to update any of your
